Before you call: have these ready

  • Your parcel number. It’s the fastest way for staff to find your record. See the parcel number guide.
  • The owner name and property address exactly as they appear on your record.
  • The form number you’re asking about, if any. Our forms guide lists them all.
  • Your documents: deed, tax bill, appraisal or closing statement, depending on the question.

Many questions can be answered online first: try the property search for records and values.

Language help

The Auditor’s website offers a language selector that translates pages into Spanish, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Korean, Nepali, Russian, Somali, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The Form Center also offers translated brochures and claim forms in Chinese, Nepali, Somali and Spanish. See our forms guide.

Tips for getting a faster answer

  1. Call the right office first. Bills and payments go to the Treasurer; values, credits and records go to the Auditor. See the property tax guide for who does what.
  2. Use the direct line for Homestead, Transfer & Conveyance, the Board of Revision, CAUV or Unclaimed Funds rather than the main number.
  3. Check online first. Many answers are on your parcel record in the property search.
  4. Have your parcel number ready.
  5. Avoid deadline rushes. Offices are busiest near December 31, January 31 and March 31.

Scam alert: calls and letters claiming to be the Auditor

Use only contact details from official county websites. Be cautious of anyone who asks for payment by gift card, wire or cryptocurrency, charges a fee for free services such as Homestead applications or unclaimed funds claims, or pressures you to act immediately. If in doubt, hang up and call 614-525-4663 yourself. For deed fraud concerns, see the property transfers guide.

Before you visit a counter

  • Check which floor and counter you need, and its hours, in the tables above.
  • Bring your parcel number, photo ID and any forms already filled out.
  • For the 19th-floor Transfer & Conveyance and Homestead counter, avoid noon to 1 p.m. and arrive after 9 a.m.
  • For deeds, remember the Recorder (18th floor) stops accepting documents at 3:45 p.m.
  • For payments, go to the Treasurer on the 17th floor.

If you can’t get through

  1. Try the department’s direct line or email rather than the main number.
  2. Use the Auditor’s online contact form for non-urgent questions.
  3. Check whether the answer is on your parcel’s record in the property search.
  4. For deadlines, file on time by an accepted method even if you’re still waiting for an answer, and keep proof of filing.
